Feathered Friends Photo Contest
Winter weather has arrived, the birds are hungry, and it’s time for our Feathered Friends Photo Contest. Enter your favorite pictures of birds visiting your feeders - or birds in your backyard, or any birds you photographed in the wild. You could win some terrific prizes.
Readers at SouthCoastToday.com will choose their favorite pictures, and a panel of judges will select other winners.
Here’s what you could win!
First prize
(most online votes): A private wine tasting for 10 guests at Travessia
Urban Winery ($150 value); plus a family membership to the Lloyd
Center for the Environment in Dartmouth, which comes with a Lloyd Center
gift packet including a poster of 15 backyard birds; Sibley’s Backyard
Birds of New England (waterproof folding guide) and a Lloyd Center tote
bag and informational booklets ($100 value).
Second and third prizes
(judges choice): A $50 gift card for Pet Lover in Westport or Somerset
and a family membership to the Lloyd Center for the Environment in
Dartmouth, with a Lloyd Center gift packet including a poster of 15
backyard birds; Sibley’s Backyard Birds of New England (waterproof
folding guide) and a Lloyd Center tote bag and informational booklets ($100 value).
In addition, select photos will be printed in The Standard-Times.
A few rules
You can enter up to three photos in the contest, but there will be only one winner allowed per household.
Photos can be taken from any season of the year, and even previous years. But all photos must be outdoor birds – not caged pets.
Deadline for submitting photos is noon on Dec. 31, with voting from Dec. 31 to Jan. 13. Winners will be announced Jan. 15.
